When I met the father and son, travelling along the dead paved road toward the sea like they were travelling for years. I could tell that the boy had never seen the different world, and the father dreamt fragments of the past. They had food which I’m greatly thankful for when the boy desperately told his father to give me. There is no one out there that would do that unless they were trying to trick me into coming with them to be eaten. Often the hard ships one is faced with are intimidating, but the barriers of reality are weaker than the constants of the inner spirit. The kid reminds of how effective the inner spirit can be, when he proves to his father that not everyone has changed and you need to start trusting in others to survive. Not by ganging up on a person to eat them but by working together to find real food and help build or find shelters when necessary. I know I’m not going to live for ever but we as adults need to show the next generation of kids, if there are any that you mustn’t lose your ways and always keep on going when you find something hard put into your way. Faith also plays a prominent role in your inner spirit because you need the presence of god in a godless world to serve as your guide and to keep your hope strong. The kid embodies a Christian spirit, demonstrated by his kindness and humility, while meeting me on my journey.

ReplyDeleteOnly wish you could have seen the rest of the days when we found deliverance and peace in our faith. It was like god was reaching out to us when we found that shelter stockpiled with food and warm clothing. We spent one night together thinking like everything above us never happened; I remembered what it was like not to feel scared and not to always look over my shoulder in case of others watching us. I agree that god is presence in a godless world to help you stay hopeful but that is only if one desires to find it in life. My son and I are pushed onward by an invisible force, heading for the sea, guided by our hearts. We have been fortunate that whenever we are hungry we find something to eat, and whenever we are thirsty, water presents itself to us. It is almost like a miracle that god leaves us because of our faith like hidden treasures left on our journey to find. The way you knew of this apocalypse was almost like you were exposed to the possibility before it became reality. The way you talked of it, like it was the second coming of Christ prophesied within the bible. I like that you believe in a high power that will guide you, despite the misfortunes. Faith acts as a pillar to uphold hope and weaken reality, by assisting us on our path to find the old reality that we once knew.
